Darlington v Barnet - Dec 28th 2005

Result: 2-1 - Att:2,905

Merry Christmas to everybody, and welcome back to the 96.6 TFM Darlington Arena. Tonight we play host to Barnet. It does not seem that long since we visited Barnet in the G.M Vauxhall Conference, and won by two goals to nil. From then, we went onto be Champions, and with it promotion back into the Football League. If my memory serves me correctly, the Supporters Club took six coach loads to north London that day.

Unfortunately our last home game against Grimsby Town was postponed due to a frozen pitch. It certainly seems a while since the last time we played at home. From both a football point of view, and financial, the postponement was very disappointing. After a great win at Stockport, everybody was hoping for back to back wins, which would have set us up nicely for the games over Christmas. Let's hope for a good result tonight.

Tonight's game comes hot on the heels of our visit to Carlisle United. Due to printing deadlines, I am unable to comment, however hope we got a good result.

Hope that Santa was kind to you all, and that Christmas has been pleasant. I do know that Santa must have visited the Club shop, as one of my presents was the home shirt. Rumour has it he enjoyed a carvery during his visit!!

I would like to thank all those who attended, and contributed towards our 70's & 80's Discomania recently. A good night was had by all, including the TFM Saturday Soccer team who ran a music quiz. Photos of this event are displayed on our website, www.dfcsc.co.uk The Supporters Club will as usual be open for business tonight in the Tinshed Bar.

Tonight we start a new feature, called "Focus On! ". It is intended that over the coming months, members of the Supporters Club committee will be featured, which will give an insight of them as fans of Darlo. I have no doubt that a lot of you will have encountered Glen and Mary Bowes, who really are Darlo through and through. They have been married for over 40 years, and have not missed a game home or away in years, which is magnificent support. When recently speaking to Glen, he told me that prior to the Tinshed being built at Feethams, he used to stand on the grassed bank there. At half time during the football, fans would turn around and watch the cricket. Good memories no doubt.
