With only a single point from our last 2 games, we need a win today against Bradford City. It was disappointing that the Easter weekend games only resulted in 1 point for us, which came by the way of the draw at home to Morecambe. However, we find ourselves only 1 point behind 3rd placed Hereford United, therefore we are still in a great position to not only push on into an automatic promotion place, but also stay there!!
Every game for the remainder of the season is going to be a difficult one, and I have no doubt that this season will go 'to the wire'. However, we still have to play a number of teams around us including Hereford, therefore our destiny is very much in our own hands. It is certainly going to be a nervy few weeks as the season concludes, but at the same time exciting for fans. Our lads are capable of winning the majority of the games left to play, and will hopefully do just that today.
The 2-1 defeat at Chester City last Saturday was a great disappointment to all. Fozzie scored our goal and was also voted our 'man of the match' by supporters returning home from the game. The game against Morecambe was also disappointing in that we only secured a point. However, after going 2 goals down, the lads showed great spirit by fighting back and grabbing those 2 late goals to earn that important point.
The injury situation this season has obviously been a massive hindrance to Dave Penney's plans, as we seem to have experienced a variety of injuries to many of our players. This is typified by the fact that Pawel Abbott was just returning to fitness and form when he picked up a hamstring injury which is likely to keep him out for several weeks. Let's just hope that the injury is not as bad as first feared, and Pawel can play again this season. On a similar note, I'm sure that I speak on behalf of all fans when I wish Martin Smith 'all the best' for the future. Due to injury Martin has left the club, which is a great shame as had he been fit, he would have had a significant part to play this season.
The end of the season is quickly approaching, but some very important games are left to play. I'm sure that Dave Penney and the lads would very much appreciate your support at home and away.
