After Saturdays good win against Brentford, this evening's game against Chester City provides the opportunity for the lads to close the gap on League 2 leaders MK Dons. Lets hope that it's third time lucky this evening, in respect of the game actually going ahead and not falling foul of the weather once again. It is always disappointing when a game is postponed, as this fixture has already done so twice. However, the more recent postponement on the Tuesday evening was probably welcomed by most due to the sub-zero temperatures. Let's hope that tonight's game does proceed and that we see a Darlington win.
Saturdays game against Brentford was very much a game of two half's. Neither team were particularly convincing in the first half, but our lads put in a very good performance after the interval. All three goals were well deserved, and Julian Joachim's was particularly spectacular. A lot had been said of our performances at home recently, but the second half of Saturday's game will certainly have pleased the Darlo faithful. The mood in the Corner Bar after the game was a good one, as fans had obviously enjoyed their afternoon.
With a lot of games to be played during the month of March, support at home and away will play an important part in our promotion push. During Saturday's game against Brentford, I thought that the crowd created plenty of noise in support of the lads, which I'm sure will have been appreciated. Tonight may well create a selection headache for Dave Penney, which I'm sure is a welcome problem to have. With players returning from suspension, competition for a starting place will be fierce. On a similar note, lets hope that our injuries problems are now easing, as we really have been unfortunate recently in that respect.
After tonight, our next two games are away from home. I'm sure that Dave Penney and the lads would very much appreciate your support.

Before the Brentford game on Saturday, Karen Glencross and I had a meeting with Commercial Director Grahame McDonnell. We discussed a number of subjects, including attendances and how to improve them. We came away from the meeting in a positive mood, and intend to meet regularly to address various issues, and assist our club where possible.
With the attendance issue a regular topic of conversation, it was good to see our club teaming up with the Northern Echo for the vouchers allowing children to obtain free match tickets. I know from the meeting with Grahame McDonnell that there are various other plans to attract more support in the future.
Tonight will be another tough game, against a Chester City team who we will be playing away from home later this month. Please continue to give the lads your excellent support this evening.
Enjoy the game and see you next time!
