With the end of the season drawing closer and the competition for automatic promotion places intensifying, every game is now an important one. Having been starved of success for many years, Darlington fans desperately want promotion this season. Not only do we want promotion, but most of us want us to win it automatically, rather than risking the lottery of the 'play-offs'. Having experienced the heartache of losing out twice at Wembley, in play-off finals, consolidating a place in the top 3 of League 2 has to be our aim. That is why every game is now so important, as is every point. After winning only one point in our last 2 games, it is important that we returning to winning ways this afternoon against Grimsby Town.
The 'Mariners' have vastly improved since we beat them in the away fixture, and will prove to be difficult opponents. I would like to congratulate them on reaching the final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, and I hope their fans thoroughly enjoy the occasion.
Our last home game saw us entertain Chester City, who certainly made things difficult for our lads. However, thanks to Pawel Abbott's looping header we managed to win by that single goal and take all 3 valuable points. We then made one of our longest trips of the season, down to Wycombe Wanderer's last Saturday. Unfortunately, this proved to be a very disappointing game as we lost by 2 goals to nil. David Stockdale was voted our 'man of the match' by our supporters travelling home. Then on Tuesday night we made another long trip, to play Shrewsbury Town, which ended goalless. Unfortunately, due to Hereford winning their last 2 games, we have moved down a place in the league table to 4th.
As we approach the end of the season, I'm sure that Dave Penney and the lads would very much appreciate your support at home and away.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR PRESENTATION NIGHT
This season's 'Player of the Year' presentation night will take place on the evening of Saturday 26th April, after our game against Dagenham & Redbridge. As usual, this event will take place in the Ron Greener suite and along with the awards, will also include a buffet and Disco until late. Tickets will be going on sale shortly, and don't forget to pick up the nomination forms in order to vote for the various awards. This annual event is always popular, and if results go as hoped, it could well be the best party that our stadium has ever seen!!
Moving away from League 2, I must just mention the FA Cup this season. With the usual 'big' premiership clubs dominating the major competitions over recent years, it is refreshing to see 3 Championship clubs in the FA Cup semi-finals, along with Portsmouth. The magic of the FA Cup has obviously returned, which can only be a good thing for football. I'm a great believer that the crowd can make a difference to the team, so once again I ask that you continue to give the lads your excellent support this afternoon and hopefully cheer them towards a win.
Enjoy the game and see you next time!
