Good afternoon everybody and a very warm welcome back to the Arena for the start of a brand new season. It certainly appears to have been a very busy summer so far behind the scenes, with a large number of players joining our club. On behalf of the Supporters Club, I would like to extend a warm welcome to the new lads, and wish them success at Darlington. The list of new personnel is certainly impressive, so well done to Dave Penney and George Houghton for assembling a squad that we all hope will bring success.
Away from the pitch, things have also been busy. With the arrival of 2 new directors, the commercial side of our club appears to be expanding. One very pleasing example of this was the recent opening of the new club shop in the town centre. Not only have we now got the shop, but there is also a very good range of training and leisure wear available, and the new first team shirt was released well before the start of the season.
This season will see the 20th anniversary of the Darlington FC Supporters Club. We are presently working on a number of exciting ideas to celebrate this, and will announce plans in due course. I'm sure that a lot of us have good memories of travelling away on the coaches over the years, and will enjoy celebrating the anniversary with friends new and old. As I say, I'll keep you updated.
It almost goes without saying that we will of course be continuing to provide luxury coach travel to away games again this season. We will be continuing to use Atkinson's again this season, as they have provided an excellent service to our supporters for many years. Membership can be renewed now, and have been frozen at last years prices of £5 per adult and £1.50 per child for the season.

Once the last season ended in May it was summer holiday time, and for Tracey and I, it was the fabulous Caribbean island of Barbados. The suitcase contained a number of Darlington tops and various T-shirts which were proudly shown off to the Bajan people. We were also joined by the navy girls Nicole and Tina (daughter & friend), who's ship HMS Ocean was visiting the island. The girls too proudly showed off their Darlo shirts to the islanders. I think it's fair to say that when we arrived, most people in Barbados had never heard the word "Darlo", but a few of them know all about us now!!!
Today's game against Wrexham will be tough, as they have also made some good signings during the summer. For our season to be successful, we need to support Dave Penney and the lads fully and at times be patient. So here we are, about to kick off another season. Great to be back isn't it!! Enjoy the game, and see you next time. .
